Ivan Gordils Obituary

Ivan David Lago Gordils, 74, of Roanoke, Va., and formerly of Ponce, Puerto Rico, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2008. He was born August 18, 1934, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, son of the late Francisco Lago and Sofia Gordils. His son, Ivan David Lago; and two brothers, Francisco and Ruben; also preceded him in death. His survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Bakoczy Lago; children, Elizabeth "Lilott" Kowalski and husband, Bennie, of Roanoke, and Carmen Diana Lago; grandchildren, Ivan Alfonso Renta, Bennie Alexander Kowalski, Christopher Andrew Kowalski and Anna Sofia Kowalski; sisters, Wilda Lago and Pitita Lago; and the rest of the family. Funeral service will be held at the graveside 1 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2008, at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton, Va. The Rev. Fr. Burt Sare to officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2008, with Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.

My condolences of the passing of my father's first cousin Ivan Lago. Ivan era muy buena gente y bien chevere conmigo aunque apenas nos conocimos. Fui a ver los tres hermanos con mi hijo Frankie hace ya un par de años. Saludos a todos. Su primo en California nieto de Pepito Lago y Lago.
