My Dear Hilda, C.J. and Lindsay,
Bill and I have just learned the tragic news of everyone's loss of Clarence. We regret that we were out of the state and not able to attend his memorial.
He will be missed by so very many people as he touched people's lives in all walks of life. We are grateful that our lives' paths crossed and that we had the privilege of knowing him. We send you all our deepest sympathy as you walk through this valley.

Hilda: My sincere sympathy to you and family. It was many years ago that I filled in as secretary to Mr. Caldwell at Roanoke College as he was waiting for just the perfect, permanent one to come along...and that was you! You both were blessed with many years together and I know you will miss him. May God always bless you.

Clarence was my boss at the Coillege "way back when" - and he was one of the kindest, most considerate bosses that I ever had. He even put up with my future husband Phil Weeks stopping by the office to "court" -- I am so sad to hear of his passing; he was a true gentleman, Cindy Dunn Weeks

Dear Hilda, Ellie, C.J., and Lindsey,
We are so deeply sorry for your loss. We know that Clarence was a great servant to his Lord, and his example lives on in the hearts and lives of the countless people he touched through his work at the College, in the church and throughout the community. We shall miss him so very much, even as we rejoice in his final victory and life with our Lord.

We hold you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Love, Mark and Jodi

I am the sister of two of his high school friends, Charlie Crouch and
O. B. Crouch. I offer my deepest
sympathy to the family. I had one
opportunity to speak to Clarence at
one of the Golden Colonels lunches.
He was surprised to see me as he
had not seen me since the early
40's. I went up to him and identified
myself as the sister of my two
brothers, and he was delighted that
I spoke to him. Both of these
brothers are now gone also, and it was such a delight to speak to a
friend of theirs.
