Ricardo,
I wanted to let you know I will miss melody. She was one of the people I regarded as a true friend.I remember when I first met melody back in the Hampton years and even when I did not talk to her directly Alexis would keep me posted on how you and Melody were doing. The last time I saw you both was at the homecoming a few years ago and it was like old times. It was great. In june I called melody because alexis told she had become ill and I talked to her a long time just trying to catch up on everything and we both confided in each other about our life struggles and we both had encouragement for each other.I promised her I would call her and check on her and I did .The last time I talked to Melody she was getting sicker and I could tell she was getting weaker. It was hard for me to here that weakness and not be able to help.My sympathy goes out to you and the family.I will always remember Melody.

Ricardo, Raven & Cardi:

The memories of Melody and I extend to our days at Hampton. We met when we pledged Delta Sigma Theta in 1972 and remained loving friends notwithstanding our graduation from college and our concentration on our individual lives thereafter. My fondest memories are of Melody, Alexis, Lori and I in the VW traveling back and forth to Norfolk to party. We partied hard and Melody was always the designated driver. When ever I think of those days a smile comes over my face. Melody had such an even no nonsense temperament. I was number 9 on line and she was number 10. There is a hole in my heart, but these memories provide a blockage to the pain that I am enduring and you will continue to endure. Take solace in the fact that she impressed your lives for such an extended period

Ricardo and Family, Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to you and your entire family. I first met Melody through my "homies", Alexis and Adrienne, when my buddies and I would slide down to Hampton back in our undergraduate days when we should have been studying at Lincoln (PA). I also remember making the trip to Salem for your wedding--we all had a fantastic time. Although I have not seen Melody in a few years, I do remember her fantastic smile and upbeat personality. Although there is little I could say to remove the pain of your lost, I hope that the great memories that you and the kids have of her will help to keep you all moving forward. She is no longer in pain. Take care, Joe Brown

From Melody's Hearted With Love

My parents gave me life and they shown me wisdom the way of love and grace. They always told me to follow my dream and follow where ever my hearted, leads me with GOD'S graces. As a little girl I always wanted to be someone to work with others and help those who needed me in a world of sharing and giving. One day GOD bless me with my dream in caring for others. He blessed me with my bested of years, working with beautiful people with an open heart fill of love. GOD bless me, with so much; my family, my friends, my beautiful children, and wonderful husband I loved so dear, my co-workers and everyone else who were there with me to the end GOD bless me. For I will always be with you as I rest my arms upon you all. Thank you all for being in my life for my heart is at peace; for I am in my Father's House.

To Ricardo, Ricardo, Jr., and Raven,
There was an article written about Melody this Week in the Roanoke Times, which is a testimony to the service that she gave to the Roanoke community, but Melody wrote her own story on the hearts of those that knew her. She was always the same!! There wasn't a "Wednesday Melody," or a "I'll speak to you because we're in a meeting Melody!" SHE WAS ALWAYS THE SAME.....SWEET!!! Raven, I've spoken to you a couple of times over the past few days and I'm inspired and amazed by your strength. Have faith in the Lord and know that she lives within you!

Ricardo, Cardi, and Raven,
We are abundantly blessed because Melody made a huge difference in our lives. Little did I know 39 years ago, as we moved into the freshman dorm across the hall from one another at Hampton, that we would become such good friends. We created treasured college memories, including pledging Delta Sigma Theta Sorority together. Through the years, our friendship grew as we married, raised our children, developed our careers and provided encouragement to abide in the Lord. Last month, she and I agreed that her life served as a testimony to others. She was so happy in the Lord. As a tribute to her, let's always lean on HIM and not on our own understanding. May you continue to be blessed abundantly, as Melody's light continues to shine brightly in your heart.

My words could never come close to expressing the emotions of saddness for a friend whom I will truly will miss and the joy that I have of knowing where Melody is right now. I know she is singing in the most glorious choir and smiling from ear to ear. We met enrolling our older boys Ricado and Shawn in kindergarten with Raven and Daniel in strollers. Not knowning what great friends that Raven and Daniel would become later when they started school. We talked and laughed through our friendship and co-chaired PTA President for Salem High School together. Melody was an example of her faith in our Savior and shared her faith with me so often. My deepest love goes to you, her loving family.
Love in Chirst!
