To the family of our beloved Pokey:
Your lady was one of the first "real" people I met here in Roanoke, her heart was pure gold- displayed in her smile and laugh to friends, family, patients, and strangers. Beautiful, strong and sweet in a Big Mama way... she will be so missed! With the rain let your tears go because Latreesa preferred your smiles and laughter. Many prayers to all of you, will miss our great sister!

I've been knowing you for so long and was very lucky to know both sides of you (Pokie and Latreesa) at work (Our Lady of the Valley) and growing up in southwest. My mom always talk about how she and your mom gave birth on the very same day. So I feel like I've known you all my life. I am very sadden, shocked and hurt to hear of your passing but God's decision is never a mistake. I love you and keep smiling from heaven. And to Speedy, may God comfort you and your family during this difficult time.

Raysean and Ro..I know what you are going thru, and I've been in your place. I know that this is a difficult time for you. But just keep your head up and know that she is sitting high and looking low. I wish I had a chance to have met her face to face. But she raised two good kids and I'm glad that I had a chance to have met you both. Ray, your like a brother to me, so if you need me, I'm only a call away. God Bless the entire family and may peace be with you.

Latreesa was a kind and loving person. Her devotion to her 'residents" and the loyalty to her chosen work was commendable. We were fortunate to have employed her and to have been able to call her a friend. She was strong and giving both to her family and her community. I always admired her spirit and determination in the face of trials and tribulation. May God grant his peace and acceptance to the family and many close friends. Remember her laughing and enjoying life, for she surely knew how to do that.

To the family,

Pokey was someone special to many people. Pokey faced many trials and tribulations in her life, but thank God she endured. She was strong and a friend to many. She has finally found that peace, that sweet peace that she so rightly deserved while here on earth. Rest my sister and enjoy the peace you have found in the Lord. I will see you again one day. Love much to the family. Show love today...as if it was your last. God bless.
