Margaret Bailey Obituary

Margaret Hillas Bailey, 88, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008. She is survived by her husband, Charles H. Bailey; daughter and husband, Mary Michael and Fay Baker, of Augusta, Ga.; granddaughter and husband, Angela and Jeff Havens; and great-grandchildren, Bailey and Brock Havens, all of Houston, Texas; sister and husband, Rita and Tom Carnary, of Roanoke; special Godchild and niece, Connie Rice, of Richmond; many nieces and nephews, in-laws and their families, they include, Dolores B. Rorrer, LaVerne B. Dillon, of Roanoke and James J. Bailey, of Orlando, Fla. A longtime member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Margaret was employed with the City of Roanoke for 28 years in various departments. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. More importantly, she touched the lives of so many through her sweet loving thoughtfulness and kindness. She embraced everyone that she ever met – no one was ever a stranger. The funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at St. Andrews Catholic Church. The Rev. Msgr. Thomas G. Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at Oakey's East Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements by Oakey's East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
