John Back Obituary

John Musick Back, 83, of 4045 Robinson Tract Road, Pulaski, Va., died on Sunday, October 19, 2008, at his home. He was born in Letcher County, Ky., on July 28, 1925, and was the son of the late John Ivol and Lochiel Pendleton Back. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline B. Back; a brother, Tommy D. Back; and a granddaughter, Angela Hope Back. He was a retired employee of the United States Government and was a veteran of the United States Army/Air Corp. having served during World War II in the South Pacific. He was known to baseball fans. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, John T. and Linda Back, of Pulaski, Wynn and Linda Back, of Richmond, and Jeff and Beth Back, of Pulaski; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Bill Krueger, of Hickory, N.C., Lynn and Rich DeLeo, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Kim and Benny Harriman, of Pulaski; 13 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; sisters, Kathryn Peters and Rachel Wright; and brothers, Ronnie Back, Phillip Back, and Chad Back. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 23 2008, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Howlett and the Rev. Dr. C.R. Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be held on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2008, at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family wishes that memorials be made to The Beulah House, 4704 Caddell Lane, Dublin, Va. 24084. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski, Va.
