Floyd Higgins Obituary

Floyd Franklin (Frank) Higgins Sr., 76, of Buchanan, Va., left this earth on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Frank was a United States Army Veteran and had retired from Lonestar Cement with over 20 years service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Elmer Higgins and Clara Higgins Hill; wife, Delia "Toots" L. Higgins; son, Larry Higgins; and sister, Velma "Snooks" Entsminger. Leaving behind to cherish his memory are a son, Floyd "Buck" Franklin Higgins Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary H. and J.D. Clemmer, and Pamela H. and Clyde Crabb; five grandchildren, Pansy Deacon, Summer and Mac Clemmer, Linsay (Dana) Jones, and Jordan Floyd; three great-grandchildren, Cody Manspile, Kevin Carter, and Kaleb Wright; two sisters, Alma Tyler and Gracie Housman; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2008, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Those wishing to make a contribution, please consider the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106-A, Roanoke, Va. 24018. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, Va., 540-254-3000.

Frank was a friend and will be sadly missed. I ejoyed hunting and story telling with him and looked forward to seeing him in the garden as I traveled into Springwood. The entire Higgins family has suffered a loss that is shared by others. May God bless and guide you through these difficult times.
