Blanche Semones Obituary

Blanche Semones, 91, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Carilion New River Valley Hospital. She was born on May 14, 1917, in Indian Valley, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Margaret Hollandsworth; husbands, Lawrence Gardner and Fred Semones; granddaughter, Carmen Gardner; five sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Mike Maloney; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and the Rev. Beth Gardner; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Frankie and Tyler Turner; grandchildren, Karen and John Skinner, Phillip and Angie Keith, Kristi and Mark Shaw, Sharon Gardner, and Gregory Gardner; great-grandchildren, Michael Skinner, Sarah Skinner, Crystal, Brittany, and Thomas Keith; great great grandchild, Makayla Collins; brother-in-law, Hassell and Lula Semones; sister-in-law, Anita Gardner; and many special nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Maberry Funeral Home with Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd. Blanche was truly a mighty woman of God. She had an endurance that I pray I will have. She will be missed, I know she is rejoicing in heaven with her loved ones and most of all our Heavenly Father.
