Margaret Zeis Obituary

Aitkenhead Margaret Elizabeth Aitkenhead Zeis, 94, of Lynchburg, formerly of Roanoke, and Akron, Ohio, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at WestminsterCanterbury. She was the wife of the late Paul Maxwell Zeis. Margaret was born on August 22, 1914, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Christine White Aitkenhead and the late John Aitkenhead. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Richard Alan Zeis. Margaret is survived by her son, John F. Zeis and his wife, Joan, of Pennsylvania; her three grandchildren, Jennifer, Janet and Jonathan; and one great-grandchild. Margaret was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Va. She spent many years as a hospital volunteer for the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C., during World War II and while living in Roanoke. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Akron, Ohio, with the Reverend Christy Ramsey officiating. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, Va., is assisting the family, 434-237-9424.
