Mary Harvell Obituary

Mary Frances Sutherland Harvell, 82, of Lynchburg, Va., passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Odell Harvell who passed away on March 22, 1991. Born March 18, 1926, in Penhook, Va., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Rucker Sutherland and the late Mary Belle Dudley Sutherland. She was a graduate of Madison College, which is now James Madison University. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Walter Sutherland. She is survived by one daughter, Ann Harvell, of Forest; one son, John Benjamin Harvell and wife, Susan, of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Shelley Seeman Lafoon, Benjamin Lee Maddox, John David Maddox, Mary Susan Harvell and John Frederick Harvell; and by one brother, David Anthony Sutherland and wife, Marion, of Penhook. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Northfield Cemetery, Penhook. I am sorry to hear that your mother has passed. I remember
as a child, visiting your home on Taylor Road and she was
always cooking something that smelled SO good. That was
45 years ago now!
