Dorothy Stanley Obituary

Dorothy Falls Stanley, 80, of Moneta, Va., passed away on Monday, October 27, 2008. She was born in Springwood, Va., on April 26, 1928. She was a member of Springwood Baptist Church and was baptized in Springwood. She moved to Roanoke upon her marriage to Jessie L. Stanley on January 6, 1951, and became a member of Bonsack Baptist Church. After moving to Bedford County, she became a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jessie; and their children, Thomas and his wife, Jackie, of Alabama, Randy and his wife, Susan, of Blue Ridge, Va., and Carey and his wife, Barbara, of Moneta, Va.; one sister, Jean Eubank, of Buchanan; two brothers and wives, Robert and Mary Falls, of Daleville, and William and Betty Falls, of Roanoke; five grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. Dorothy's fourth son, Kenneth, preceded her in Heaven; along with her mother and father, Clarence and Lottie Falls; her sister, Grace; and brothers-in-law, George Poff and Carl Eubank. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Gary T. Fowler will officiate. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Flint Hill Baptist Church or Bedford Hospice Care. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
