Charles Safewright Obituary

Charles Ted Safewright, 65, of 2640 Green Drive, Draper, Va., died on Monday, October 27, 2008, in the New River Valley Medical Center, Radford. He was born in Pulaski on September 14, 1943, and was the son of the late Frank James Safewright and Emma Myers Safewright. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Lee Safewright and David Vernon Safewright. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Hall Safewright, of Draper; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Daniel Wright, of Fairplay, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, First Sgt. Brian C. and Diana Safewright, of Manhattan, Kan.; sister, Joyce Hubbard, of Pearisburg; and four brothers, Frank James Safewright Jr., of Waldorf, Md., Bobby Joe Safewright, of Max Meadows, Danny Safewright, of Dublin, and Stephen Safewright, of Kingsport, Tenn. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2008, from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin with Pulaski VFW Post #1184 conducting the Military Graveside Rites. Visiting will be held on Wednesday evening, October 29, 2008, from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.

Carolyn,
So sorry to hear of Charlie's death. I can honestly say I knew him when. Many nights did he come to our house to listen to mama tell ghost stories. Later when dadddy bought a TV he and all the other kids came to watch that too. We were all friends on Valley Road. He will be missed by all those close and far away. God bless you and your children.
