Mildred Pauline Evans

Mildred Pauline Evans, 90, of Roanoke, Va., known to her family and friends as "Peewee," went to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Warren Evans; parents, Walter and Lula Hartsook; and sister, Beulah Cabaniss. Mrs. Evans retired from the Fine Jewelry Department of Miller & Rhoads after 20+ years of service. She was a devoted, active, lifelong member of Belmont Baptist Church. Mildred will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She has left behind some wonderful memories, for everyone who knew her, to reflect on and cherish. She is survived by her son, Warren Ray Evans, of Roanoke; grandson, Scott Warren; great-granddaughter, Grace; great-grandson, Tanner; her brother, Frank L. Hartsook and his wife, Geneva, of Salem; five nephews; and several greatnieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008, at the graveside at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. John W. Fox will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Oakey's Downtown Chapel, 540-982-2100.
