William Edward Parrish

William Edward Parrish, 79, of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008. He was born on November 8, 1928 in Roanoke, Va. and was the son of the late Joseph Cephas and Minnie Richardson Parrish. William was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He loved to fish in the surf and was the owner/ operator of Parrish Logging Supply. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Missimer Parrish and three brothers, Charles, Jack, and Clyde Parrish. He is survived by his sons, Steve Parrish and wife, Jeanne, Mike Parrish and wife, Joy, and Joseph Parrish and wife, Christy; seven grandchildren, Richard and wife, Stephanie, Michael and wife, Sherri, Robert and wife, Jenny, Becca, Annie, Drew, and Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Maddie, Sam, Max, and Miller; and numerous nieces and nephew. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, with the Reverend Tim Gearhart and the Reverend Bob Colwell officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 845 Hemlock Road, Salem, VA 24153.
