Dorothy Angle Obituary

Dorothy Cooke (Dot) Angle, of Rocky Mount, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at Trinity Mission of Rocky Mount. She was born January 15, 1932, in King and Queen County, Virginia. She moved to Franklin County to attend Ferrum College. While attending college and working at the Jamison Clinic in Rocky Mount she met her husband of 57 years, Richard O. (Dick) Angle. Dot was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae and David Jefferson, of Penhook, Alice and Frank Jones, of Johnson City, Tenn.; brother, Randolph Cooke, of Richmond. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, William R. Reynolds, of Rocky Mount; sister-in-law and husband, Joyce and Charles Allyn; brother-in-law, Jack Angle. Dot is survived by her husband, Richard O. (Dick) Angle; daughter and son-in-law, JeRena and Harold Handy; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Helene Angle, Mark and Judy Angle, all of Rocky Mount; her grandsons, Jonathan and Jeanette Angle, of Rocky Mount, Shad and Manue Reynolds, of Austin, Texas; two very special great-grandsons, Tyler Angle, of Moneta, and Gabriel (Gabe) Reynolds, of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Julia C. and Raymond Powell; brothers and wives, Lloyd and Mamie Cooke, John Garnett and Lois Cooke; sisters-in-law and husbands, Win and Dick Hylton, of St. Pete, Fla., Jenny and Chuck Unietis, of Banner Elk, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the fine staff of Trinity Mission Health and Rehab and especially the staff of the east wing for the excellent care of Mom while living there in "my little bedroom" as she called it. The family would also like to thank all of her home caregivers for the excellent care they gave over the past five years. Graveside services will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers and food, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Stephanie Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund, 350 Angle Plantation Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151; or to Flint Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, c/o Emily Smith, 2536 Booker T. Washington Hwy, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.

Mr. Angle (Dick), Mark, Jerena, Eddie and other family members, I am so sorry for your loss. The short time that I had the honor of knowing Mrs. Angle & visiting with her, I came to realize how wonderful she was. She truly loved her family and she was a blessing to us all.
