Virginia Rickey Obituary

Virginia Agnes Rickey, 87, a lifelong resident of Max Meadows, Va., passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008, in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born November 17, 1920, daughter of the late Charles and Alverta Porter Rickey. Agnes was preceded in death by three sisters, Forest Cole, Maude Umberger and Sallie McKelvey; three brothers, Boyd, Russell and Robert Rickey. She was retired from Pendleton Construction Company. She is survived by a brother, Herbert Rickey, of Max Meadows, Va.; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Verle Snavely, of Max Meadows, Va. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008, at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Morris and the Rev. Gleasanna Johnson officiating. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. until service time at the funeral home or at the residence at any time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Max Meadows UMC Building Fund. Arrangements by Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va.
