David Peters Obituary

David Benjamin Peters, 95, of Salem, Va., passed away Friday, November 7, 2008. He was born December 26, 1912, in Crumpler, W.Va., son of the late Preston C. and Maude Falls Peters. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Bessie Francisco Peters; brothers, Jim, Preston, and Billy Peters; sisters, Louise Sheppard, Libby Marks and Frances Whitt. Mr. Peters was a retired Road Engineer for Norfolk and Southern Railroad with 37 years of service, a United States Navy World War II Veteran and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, in Salem. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Susie Peters; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Karl Mason; grandchildren, Jason Peters, Amy Saunders, Jason Houston, Nathan Houston, Veronica Harvey and Jackie Blanton; six greatgrandchildren; sister-in-law, Marietta Peters; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2008, at the Chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. Rick Elmore officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 9, 2008, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at johnmoakey.com.
