Donna Glover Rector

Donna Glover Rector, 59, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008, in Wythe County Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Meadowview, Va., and lived in Wytheville for 36 years. Her parents, Etta Gobble Glover and Charles Eugene "Gene" Glover, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Donald Rector Sr.; her daughter, Tracy Pauley and husband, Chris, of Wytheville. She has a son, Donald "Donnie" Rector Jr. and wife, Ginger, who reside in Ft. Chiswell; her granddaughter, Victoria Smythers, and grandson, Steven Pauley, are both from Wytheville; her brother, Alan "Tom" Glover, resides in Meadowview, Va. She has several nieces and nephews and a special friend and sister-in-law, Sue Rector. She served the Wythe County School system for 29 years and she loved all the children with whom she had the pleasure of teaching. She has touched many lives and will be missed by many. A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2008, at West End Cemetery with the Rev. Kent Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel. The family would like to thank the staff of Wythe County Community Hospital, Johnston Memorial Hospital, The Cancer Outreach Associates and the wonderful services of Dr. Forrest Swann for all the care and compassion given to Donna and her family during her illness.
