Zora Rizzo Obituary

Zora Gentilini Rizzo, 74, of Roanoke, Va., formerly of Sarasota, Fla., went home to be with her Lord Sunday, November 9, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Vero Beach, Fla., she was a daughter of the late Carry Bell Cox and James C. Cox and predeceased by her sister, Ida Mae Currie. Zora was widowed from both Joe Gentilini and Angelo Rizzo. She was retired from Cox Lumber Co. in Sarasota, Fla., and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Surviving are her son, Robert Gentilini and daughter-in-law, Sharon Gentilini, of Roanoke; her two granddaughters, Brittany and Michele; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Michael; her brother, John Giddens and wife, Katie, of Bradenton, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a very special thanks for all the love, support and care from Amedisys Hospice in Salem and to a very special angel that was her full-time caregiver, Reba Jones. Thank you for all the love and support. A private family ceremony will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers and cards, please, make your contributions to Alzheimer's Asociation, 2728 Colonial Ave., S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24015. Arrangements are by Oakey's North Chapel and Crematory, Roanoke, Va., 540-362-1237.

Robert,
I accidentally came across your Mom's death notice, and was saddened to hear you have lost her. I wish I had known she was back in Roanoke. I pray she didn't suffer a lot before her passing.
