James McGrady Obituary

James Charles (J.C.) McGrady, 87, of Mouth of Wilson, Va., the Grassy Creek community, passed away November 9, 2008, at Twin County Community Hospital, Galax, Va. He was born August 30, 1921, at Volney, Va. to the late Eddie Winton McGrady and Ella Duncan McGrady. He was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church, a 50 year member of Mouth of Wilson Masonic Lodge 223 A.F & A.M. and a United States Army Veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Helen Louise Jewell McGrady; son and spouse, Jeffrey and Teresa McGrady, of Adkins, Va.; three daughters and spouses, Joan and Steve Severt, of Gastonia, N.C.; Judy and Ben Hemrick, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Nancy and Audie Ferris, of Roanoke, Va.; one brother, Don McGrady, of Independence, Va.; one sister, Doris Perry, of Mouth of Wilson, Va.; nine grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. Funeral service conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in Grassy Creek Baptist Church, Grassy Creek, N.C. Interment in Grassy Creek Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Grayson County VFW Post 7726. The body will lie in state at the church thirty minutes preceding the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, November 10, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 8 p.m. by Mouth of Wilson Masonic Lodge 223 A.F. & A.M. Flowers appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Grassy Creek Cemetery, c/o Joyce Wagg, 1549 Jefferson Highway, Mouth of Wilson, Va. 24363. Arrangements by ReinsSturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va.
