James Robinette Obituary

James A. (Jim) Robinette, 73, of Vinton, Va., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a Veteran of the United States Army. Jim enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Vergie Robinette; his sister, Hazel Honaker; and niece, Regina Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley Robinette; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ronny Hicks; grandchildren, Tyler and Jennifer Hicks; mother-in-law, Vickie Vance; brother, Harvey Robinette; sisters, Lillian Bennett, Beulah Mutter, Billie (Raymond) Meadows, and Pat (Bobby) Price; sisters-in-law, Marie (Lynn) Barre, Anna (Lou) Gilbert, and Delores Lester; and several nieces, nephews and special friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice, Dr. William Fintel, Dr. Jonathan Bern and staff for the care given to Jim. A funeral service will be held noon on Friday, November 14, 2008, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Mike Ward and Pastor Mark Manning officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 13, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution, please consider Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric Road, Suite A, Roanoke, Va. 24018. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 540-982-2221.
