Robert McCall Obituary

Robert Herland (Bobby) McCall, 81, of Riverview St. in Pembroke, Va., departed this life on Monday afternoon, November 10, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Pembroke on March 3, 1927, he was a son of the late Walter French and Edith Clyo Hilton McCall. Bobby was a life-long member of Pembroke Christian Church serving as elder and trustee, was a member of Castle Rock Lodge No. 334 AF & AM in Pembroke and was a member of the Shrine Club. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and for over 55 years operated Pembroke Motor Sales and was a 1945 graduate of Pembroke High School. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Billy Gene McCall. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine Smith McCall; a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Crystal Ramos McCall, of Pembroke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kitty and David Dennis, of Houston, Texas, and Robin McCall-Miller and Mike Miller, of Pembroke; four grandchildren Ethan Ramos, Preston McCall, Brent McCall and McCalla "Callie" Miller; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Mary Glen Allen McCall, of Pembroke; a niece, Kristi Porter (Jason); and nephews, Bryce (Connie) McCall, Ronny McCall, and David (Kelley) McCall. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, November 12, 2008, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008, in the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with the Rev E.C. Redmond and the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post #311 in Pembroke and #68 in Narrows and VFW Post #6000 in Narrows. Allen Dale Williams, David McCall, Ariel Ramos, Ronny McCall, Anthony Dowdy, and Ronnie Lang will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Pembroke Christian Church, 517 Snidow St. in Pembroke. Online condolences may be sent to kendallfuneralhome.com.
