George Perdue Obituary

George Washington Perdue, 92, of the Bear Spring Community, Pearisburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2008, from Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born February 27, 1916, in Giles County, Va., the son of the late Robert Acie and Elizabeth Frances Thomas Perdue. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Stafford Perdue, and was the last remaining member of 11 brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Bear Spring United Methodist Church and was retired from the Celanese Corporation with 38 years service. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald G. and Brenda Perdue, of Pearisburg, and Roscoe D. and Theresa Perdue, of Pearisburg; one grandson and wife, Todd and Anita Perdue, of Pearisburg; and two greatgrandsons, Michael and Jacob Perdue. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Bear Spring United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Duncan officiating. Burial in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Eggleston Charge MYF, c/o Sharon Dunn, 1207 Gladewood Dr., Blacksburg, Va. 24060.

My family wish to send our condolences for your loss. I remember him with fondness as I knew him as a young boy and as I grew into adulthood I remember seeing him sitting on his porch as I went by or passing him on Bear Spring Road.
