Frank Merrill Obituary

On Tuesday, November 11, 2008, the Lord called Frank (David) Merrill home following a long illness. David, as he was known to family and friends, was born on March 21, 1938, in Augusta, Ga. During his childhood he moved to the Bronx, N.Y., where he lived until 1955, when he joined the United States Navy. After his commission expired, David left the Navy and returned to the Bronx where he worked for Burnside Oil until retirement in 1998. Upon retirement, David moved to Waterville, Maine, and in September of 2006, he moved to Roanoke, Va. David was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Elizabeth; his sister, Elizabeth Anne; and his niece, Theresa Marie. David will be remembered in the hearts of many, especially his sister, Betty Jo, his nephews, nieces, cousins, dear friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held in honor of David 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24018. Friends and family wishing may make donations to Salem Veterans Medical Center Hospice Program, 1970 Roanoke Blvd., Salem, Va. 24153 or to the American Cancer Society.
