Zeffie Woodring Obituary

Zeffie Loretta Martin Woodring, 85, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Sunday, November 16, 2008, at Heritage Hall Health Care. She was born in Montgomery County, Va., on May 2, 1923, to the late James William and Doris Shepherd Lawson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Clayton Martin; and her second husband, Harold Ray Woodring; and two sons, Daniel Earl Martin and Jerry Wayne Martin. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Susie and Jessie Jewell, of Pilot, Delores and Mitchell Linkous, of Merrimac, and Bertha Martin and Lewis Elbertson, of Dublin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Maggie Martin, of Christiansburg, and Phillip and Nadine Martin, of Blacksburg; daughter-in-law, Agnes Louise Martin, of Dublin; stepchildren, Kathy Moore and Craig Woodring, both of Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Lucas, of Pulaski, and Marcell Cranwell, of Front Royal; one brother, Fred Lawson, of Blacksburg; 12 grandchildren; special grandson, Troy Altizer, of Radford; five step grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; two stepgreatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, November 18, 2008, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.

Loretta was such a fun person. I have great memories of our times on Bunker Hill, church and other visits. I'll never forget how nice she was to me as a kid growing up across the road from her house. My sympathy to all the family. May you be blessed and comforted by all the great memories she leaves for us to cherish always.
