Mary Amos Obituary

Mary Armintie Williamson Amos, 83, of Hardy, Va., went peacefully to her Heavenly Home with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 16, 2008. She was born on July 2, 1925, to the late Thomas Wesley Williamson and Ella Mae Byrd Williamson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Calvin Amos. Mary was a long time member of Nineveh Church of the Brethren where she had sung in the choir and was a member of the Women's Fellowship. She was a loving sister, mother and grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, son, David Amos and his wife and special caregiver, Shirley, of Goodview; daughter, Martha Dalton and her husband, Mark, of Henry; grandchildren, Randy Amos and wife, Colleen, of Mifflintown, Pa., and Robin Anderson and husband, Mark, of Roanoke, special grandson, Brian Garland, of Henry; step grandchildren, Donnie Rickman and wife, Josey, Tony Rickman, Marcy Martin and husband, Joey, all of Salem, and Steve Dalton, of Rocky Mount; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Rutledge and husband, L.C., of Forsythe, Ga.; brother, Ed Williamson and wife, Sandra, of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Elsie Amos; brother-in-law, Junior Amos, of Vinton; several nieces; and a nephew. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Nineveh Church of the Brethren with Pastor Roy Heinlin, the Rev. Berkley Stevens and the Rev. Burrell Baker officiating. Mary will be laid to rest beside her husband in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Friendship Healthcare Center, 1 West for their care during her stay.
Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Research Foundation.
