M. Brads Obituary

M. Frances Floyd Brads, 90, of Bedford, formerly of Buena Vista, passed away November 16, 2008 at her residence. She was born on July 18, 1918 at South River, Va. She was the daughter of the late Elmer A. Floyd, Sr. and Mamie Nicely Floyd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur H. Brads, Jr., two sisters, three brothers, and two grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Robert W. Brads and wife, Susan of Natural Bridge, Fred M. Brads of Bedford, Steven R. Brads and wife, Joey of Surfside Beach, SC; a daughter, Manila Faye Massie and husband, Neal of Bedford. "Mama Jake" has five surviving grandchildren, David W. Brads and wife, Pat of Forest, Anthony S. Brads and wife, Kim of Daleville, Tracy B. Chittum and husband Robert of Ft. Stewart, Ga., Timothy R. Brooke and wife, Melissa of Bedford, Jamie B. Brads and wife, Laura of Roanoke; 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, November 23, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2008 at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington. Family and friends are invited to the home of Robert and Susan Brads, 152 Red Clover Lane, Natural Bridge, Va. following the graveside service. A special thanks to Pam, Sue, and Bubba of the Bedford Hospice for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bedford Hospice, 815 Summit St. Bedford, Va., 24523.
