Nellie Raycob Obituary

Nellie (nee McCowen) Raycob, of Baltimore Md., passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008. Nellie was born on January 22, 1912, in Roanoke, Va. Nellie earned her nursing degree from the Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C., and then joined the United States Army during World War II. After the war she went to work for the Public Health Service Hospital in Baltimore, Md. She retired from nursing from the University of Maryland Hospital in 1982. She was a longtime member of the Women's Civic League, and the Retired Nurses Association. The Baltimore resident was 96. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles A. Raycob; devoted mother of Charles F. Raycob and his wife, Diane; and is also survived by devoted nieces, nephews and many friends. At Nellie's request services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements by Peaceful Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Center, P.A., 2325 York Road, Timonium, Md. 21093.
