Mildred Kelley Obituary

Mildred Poff Kelley, 86, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Helen E. Poff; husband, Owen G. "Red" Kelley; son, Owen G. Kelley Jr.; brothers, Joe and Bill Poff; and a sister, Arlene Smith. Mrs. Kelley retired from Singer Furniture Company and later worked for Brendles. Surviving are her sons, Don Kelley and wife, Judy, and J.R. "Bob" Kelley and wife, Dianne, all of Roanoke; grandchildren, John Kelley, Seth Kelley and wife, Melinda, Scot Duncan and wife, Sarah, and Toby Duncan and wife, Beth; 11 greatgrandchildren; sister-in-law, Gracie Poff, of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews including Barbara Ann Chase, of Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008, in Bandy Cemetery by the Rev. Frank Feather. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2008, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, 540-366-0707.

I haven't seen Mildred in years but I worked with her at Brendles and she was always so fun and I am sorry to hear about her passing. I will always have fond memories of her.
