Gladys Allicott Obituary

Gladys Hunt Allicott, 65, of Roanoke, Va., affectionately known as "BayBay," departed this life on Monday, December 1, 2008, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 8, 1943, in Roanoke, Va., to the late Richard and Helen Hunt. She was educated in the Roanoke City School system. Gladys lived in Washington, D.C., for several years and returned to Roanoke. Gladys was married to Homer A. Johnson Sr. and to this union they had three children. She was employed by Roanoke City Childcare Services for 19 years. Gladys enjoyed playing cards and shopping. Gladys was preceded in death by her son, Calvin Johnson; two sisters, Patricia Ann Hunt and Norma Jean Hunt; one brother, Richard Hunt Jr.; and a beloved friend Mr. James Wilkes. Those left to cherish her memory, her daughter, Levona JohnsonFerebee, of Roanoke; four sons, Homer Johnson Jr. (Sylvia), of Roanoke, Thomas Johnson, Gregory Hunt Sr. (Katrina) both of Maryland, and Ernest Hunt (Michelle), of North Carolina;. sisters, Loretta Mason, of Roanoke, and Beverly Pilson, of Texas; special cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Croson, of Roanoke; special daughter, Chenise Anderson, of Roanoke; 10 blessed grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008, in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call at Serenity on Friday, December 5, 2008, from noon to 8 p.m. for viewing. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home, 540-345-9100.

Yvone and Family,
I am really sorry to hear of your mother's pasting. She was my older children's caregiver many years ago when they were babies here at Linclon Terrace. May god bless you and your family at your time of need for he love you and he will never leave your side. I want you to know that you are in our prayers.
