Doris L. Childress

Doris L. Childress, 77, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Myrtle and John Childress; sister, Louise C. McCraw and husband, James; and sister, Irma Jean Childress. Ms. Childress was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a retired switchboard operator at Hotel Roanoke. Survivors include her niece, Lisa Aldrich and husband, Charles, of Boones Mill; nephew, Edward McCraw and wife, Connie, of Hartsdale, N.Y.; and great-nephews, Chris Aldrich, of Roanoke, and Matt Aldrich, of Boones Mill. Also surviving are other loving relatives and devoted friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2008, in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Pete Watts officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Oakey's South Chapel.
