Edna Keys Obituary

Edna Louise Corl Keys, affectionately known as (GG), departed this life on Friday, December 12, 2008, at the age of 96. She was the second child of 13 born to David and Agnes Corl in Salisbury, N.C. on October 20, 1912. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Buford Howard, Lem Poff, and Basil Keys; her parents; and five brothers; and three sisters. Edna is survived by her daughter, Barbara Howard Giles; a son and wife, Richard and Carolyn Howard; a granddaughter and husband, Vicki and Paul Huffman; two greatgrandchildren, Seth and Luke Huffman; a brother and wife, Bud and Sarah Corl, of Rockwell, N.C.; sisters, Alice and Harold Myers, of Salisbury, N.C., and Ann Beaver, of Winchester, Va., and Penny Kolinsky, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. Edna loved her family especially her grandchild and greatgrandchildren. She loved her church, Central United Methodist and admired and appreciated her pastor Dave Mucha so much. Edna worked at the Salem Burlington Hosiery Mill, Kenrose Manufacturing, and retired from Richfield. Those who knew Edna were amazed at her strong will and incredible ability to always "bounce back
". She was blessed with a long life and outlived all her family. The staff at Snyder Nursing Home were wonderful to Mrs. Keys, Thank You so much. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Salem with burial to follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem. Donations of love may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 428 S. College Ave, Salem, Va. 24153.
