Barbara West Obituary

Barbara Porterfield West, 70, of Fredericksburg, Va., passed away on December 10, 2008, at Hughes Home, Inc. She was the widow of Stuart Henry West. She was born in Pearisburg, Va., a daughter of the late Mattie P. and A. Frank Porterfield. Barbara studied and enjoyed music. She retired from C&P/Bell Atlantic. She is survived by her daughters, Yolanda Rita and her companion, Mark Del Gallo, and Traci Brigham and her companion, Paul Brigham; her brother, Bobby Porterfield; and her sisters, Ruth DeHaven, Avan Joyce Miller, Mary Ann Walker, and Mattie Silver; her special niece, Paulette Frazier; her endeared brother-in-law, Lewis West and his wife, Libby; and a host of extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, with the Rev. Amos Healy officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Stroke Association, strokeassociation.org.
