Bettie Jones Obituary

Bettie Robertson Jones, 81, of 800 Westview Drive, Danville, Va., formerly 149 Granville Drive, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009, at Danville Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Jones was born on December 30, 1927, to the late Jesse Robertson and the late Jeanette Sherrard Robertson. She lived in the Salem area until 1969 then spent the rest of her life in Danville. She worked many years as an R.N. at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Roanoke. On September 3, 1949, she married the George E. Jones Sr., who died January 24, 2003. She was of the Christian faith, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include a son, George E. "Bo" Jones Jr., of Danville; two daughters, Leslie J. Fisher (Bud), of Danville, and Sherry J. Bullington (Tommy), of Ringgold; two sisters, Lillian Shelor and Martha Webb, of Salem; one brother, Ernest Robertson, of Bedford; five grandchildren, Shannon Holt, Heather Bullington, Samantha Bullington, Allison Scott, and Katie Jones; and four greatgrandchildren, Caitlin Stewart, Zane Stewart, Abby Grace Scott, and Evan Wyatt Scott. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 19, 2009, at 2 p.m. from the graveside at Highland Burial Park by the Reverend Charles Swanson. The family will be at the residence, 800 Westview Drive, Danville, Va. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Danville Cancer Association or the Danville Life Saving Crew.
