Barbara Pond Obituary

Barbara VanDenburgh Pond, 75, of Blacksburg, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2009, at home after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Walter A. Pond Jr. (Jack); daughters, Anne Chamberlin, Elizabeth Rowan; son, William C. Pond; sons-in-law, Robert Chamberlin, Richard Rowan; daughter-in-law, Marie Pond; grandchildren, Justin Chamberlin and wife Kelly, Catie Chamberlin, Carrie and Emily Rowan, Ingrid and Wyatt Pond; brother, John M. VanDenburgh and wife Jane; nieces, Susan VanDenburgh and Mary Catherine Davis. She was preceded in death by a son, Walter A. Pond III; her mother and father, Wilmer and Dorothy VanDenburgh; a brother, Wilmer VanDenburgh Jr.; and sister, Helen Cole St. John. There will be a funeral service at Christ Episcopal Church, Blacksburg, on Friday, January 23, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Scott A. West officiating, followed by interment at Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. A reception at the church for the family and friends will follow interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Christ Episcopal Church Capital Campaign or The Boys Home in Covington, Va. Many thanks to Barbara's caregivers, Barbara, Robyn, Sarah, Aldora, Carillon Hospice and nurse Pam. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
