Novella Johnson Obituary

On Saturday, January 24, 2009, Mrs. Novella McHam Johnson peacefully passed away at the Our Lady of the Valley Nursing Home in Roanoke, Va. She is survived by three children, Ms. Mary R. Johnson, of Washington, D.C., Mr. and Mrs. Floyd L. Johnson (Catherine), of Mitchellville, Md., and Mr. Ernest M. Johnson, of Catawba, Va.; three grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Pavel A. Johnson (Orris), of Montgomery, Ala., Ms. Allison Johnson, of Biloxi, Miss., and Ms. Rosalind M. Kemp, of Burbank, Calif.; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Mr. Aldean M. Johnson, who was married to the late Mrs. Shirley Annh Hylton Johnson; and 11 brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at The First Baptist Church, Gainesboro with the Rev. K.B. Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. The funeral cortege will leave from Serenity Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Friends may call at Serenity on Friday, January 30, 2009, from noon to 8 p.m. for viewing. In lieu of flowers, make contributions to The First Baptist Church of Gainesboro, Building Fund, 310 N. Jefferson St., Roanoke, Va. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
