Virginia Myers Obituary

Virginia Akers Myers, 92, of Christiansburg, Va., went to join her beloved husband, Malcolm (Mike) Myers, on Monday, January 26, 2009. She was born on May 7, 1916. She and her husband owned and operated Myers Cash Market in Christiansburg for many years. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a very good friend, Arlene Houchins, of Christiansburg. The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31, 2009, from 1 to 2 p.m. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2009, in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Steve Akers and the Reverend Leon Alley officiating. The family requests no graveside services held due to the weather. In lieu of flowers the family requests, that contributions be made to The Helping Fund, c/o Ellett Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church, 395 Pine Hollow Road, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting hornefuneralservice.com. The family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, Va.

Everyone who knew Virginia was blessed to have known her. I worked for Virginia and Malcolm while in high school and in college, and they both had a lifelong positive influence on me.
