Warren King Obituary

Warren Olden King, 88, of Wytheville, Va., died on Thursday, January 29, 2009, at Wythe Community Hospital. He was born on December 9, 1920, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Wilbur G. and Emma Evans King. Mr. King retired in 1980 from Hercules Powder Inc. in Covington, Ga. He was a member of the All Nations Church in Wytheville. He was a charter member of Boiling Spring Fire Rescue Squad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Mr. King is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gladys Wright King, of Wytheville; two daughters, Linda Messer and her husband, Charles, of Wytheville, and Anita McElroy and her husband, Keith, of Cary, N.C.; one granddaughter, Sheri Simasek, of Maitland, Fla.; two greatgrandchildren, Walker Simasek and Nathaniel Simask, both of Maitland, Fla.; one sister, Velma Armentrout and her husband, Fred, of Fuquay Vairna, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2009, in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel in Covington with the Rev. Carl Bowles officiating. The interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Saturday evening, January 31, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Arritt Funeral Home.
