Owen Cornelison Obituary

Owen Powell Cornelison, of Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009, after a brief illness. He was born in Richmond, Ky., on September 7, 1918. He attended Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. He later did graduate work at the University of Michigan. He retired from Appalachian Power Company in 1983 as Personnel Director. O.P. was a member of Cypress Lake United Methodist Church in Fort Myers and had been an active member of Windsor Hills United Methodist Church in Roanoke for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Cornelison and Suda Powell Cornelison Owsley; and his beloved wife of 58 years, Margaret Harman Cornelison. He is survived by his son, Charles Owen Cornelison and Bobbie H. Cornelison, of Roanoke; his grandchildren, Anne Cornelison Murphy and her husband, Conor C. Murphy, of Dallas, Texas, and John Charles Cornelison, of Roanoke; and also survived by many dear friends in Fort Myers and Roanoke. A service will be held noon on Monday, February 2, 2009, in the Chapel of Light Mausoleum in Evergreen Memorial Park, Roanoke. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 1, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.
