Robert Bruce Brunk

Robert Bruce Brunk, 90, of Bedford, Va., passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at the V.A. Medical Center. He was born on Monday, November 18, 1918, in Bland County, a son of the late Houston Neil Brunk and Genoe Agnes Davis Brunk. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Irene Burton Brunk; and a daughter, Nancy Mae Stanley. He was a selfemployed wood cutter and welder and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. Surviving are his three daughters, Peggy Ann Horton, of Pulaski, Agnes Jane Carter and husband, Alvin, and Pansy Gail Painter, all of Bedford; two sons, Bobby Bruce Brunk Sr. and Ray Neal Brunk, both of Bedford; a brother, Vance Brunk, of Pulaski; five sisters, Myrtle Stanner, of Ohio, Grace Hamlin, Viola Wilson, and Betty Wolf, all of Bland, and Hazel Vaughn, of Pulaski; 15 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; and three greatgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2009, at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with the Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Goshen Cemetery, Pulaski. Friends may call on Sunday, February 8, 2009, after 11 a.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford, Va.
