To Matt:
At least your pain is gone,
And your soul is free to fly
At least you got to see the sunsets
And tried to figure out why
At least you made an imprint
And got away when you could
At least we saw your heart
And felt your intentions, I know they were good
At least your baby is here,
And your face can still be seen
At least the perils have subsided
And the grass is a lot more green
At least you won't be forgotten
And your life never judged
At least your pain is gone Matt
Your beauty will never budge.
Love,
T-dawg

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Danny and Faw Faw,
My heart is overwhelmed with great sadness over the loss of Matthew. I wish I could find the words to comfort you and give you strength. But only God can do that. Matthew holds a special place in our families heart, and always has. Brandon loved him so very much, like a brother. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

Matt,
Buddy, road dog. You brought so much love and support to my life throughout your stay here in Cali. You are missed terribly and can never be replaced. RJD2, the Misfits, the Old 97's....memories from working at the record store! You had an amazingly free spirit that always brought a sense of relief to me. You will always be in my heart. Rest in peace.
To Matt's Family,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss, I wish you all the best. Matt was a great guy and I am honored to have known him.

Matt,
I don't know where to start. We have been through so much together it's hard to mention everything. I can't believe you are actually gone. I will always remember the good times, and I hope that you always knew everything that went unsaid in these past few years. You were such a talented artist, good at heart, and always made everyone laugh. I hate that I will never get to tell you this. I know in my heart that you are in a good place now. Please know that everyone will make sure your son will know that he had a Daddy that was a good man. We live on in the memories of those we leave behind. I'm sorry you had to be taken too soon. I will never forget you.
Danny and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. There is nothing anyone can really say to take away the pain of losing a child or a loved one. But just try to keep in mind that everything happens for a reason, even though sometimes that reason isn't known to us. You will see Matt again one day. He'll be waiting for you. Please let me know if I can do anything for you.
Love, Megan

Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should remember than be sad.
I'll never forget all the years we had and all grew up together. We will all miss the fun and energy you put into our lives...... Your Friend Brandon Powers
