Dorothy Sigmon Obituary

Dorothy Barbour Sigmon, of Rocky Mount, Va., died on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital of Rocky Mount. Mrs. Sigmon was born in Roanoke, Va., to the late Elwell Dewey Barbour and Ada Williams Barbour. She was married to the late Maymon E. (Mike) Sigmon who passed away on August 15, 2008. Dorothy is survived by three children, her son, Michael Dean Sigmon Sr. and his wife, Diane, her son, Alan Neil Sigmon and his wife, Sheri, and her daughter, Marsha Sigmon Stafford and her husband, Rick. Her eight grandchildren are Tyler McKibbin Sigmon, Alan Wynn Sigmon, Cody Alexander Sigmon, Sarah Burke Sigmon, the triplets, Michael Dean Sigmon Jr., Marcus Dean Sigmon, and Mary Deane Sigmon; and Kristin Stafford. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jane Helms, of Temecula, Calif.; brother, Elwell D. (Linda) Barbour, of Colonial Heights, Va., and her nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends at Rocky Mount Christian Church on Saturday, February 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 8 at Rocky Mount Christian Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Rocky Mount Christian Church, Franklin County Meals on Wheels, or Franklin County Department of Aging. Lynch Funeral Home of Rocky Mount, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
