Euclid Boggess Obituary

Euclid (E.K.) Boggess, 88, of Peterstown, W.Va., passed away, Friday, February 13, 2009, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg, Va. Born June 19, 1920, in Oakvale, W.Va., and was the son of the late Oscar and Myrtle Cooper Boggess. Mr. Boggess had lived in the Peterstown area since 1947. He was a member of the Peterstown Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and several terms on the Board of Deacons, Board of Trustees and Sunday School Teacher. He was a fifty year member of the John Dove Lodge #78 AF & AM, was Past Master and served as Trustee, also a fifty year member of Athens Chapel # 26 R.A.M., Bluefield Commandry # 19 K.T., Beni Kedem Temple, Charleston, W.Va., Bluefield Lodge of Perfection, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Lindside Lodge where he was Past Noble Grand, and was a member of the Peterstown Chapter# 118 O.E.S. He was also past president of the Peterstown Rotary Club. E.K. retired from Celanese Fibers Company where he served as Area Superintendent of Maintenance, was a farmer, and merchant. He was a former director at Giles Memorial Hospital, and had served on the Board of Directors at First Virginia Bank. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret K. Boggess; a son, Edward Blain Boggess; and a brother, Thomas C. Boggess. Survivors include three sons, Keith Boggess and wife, Cathy, Neal Boggess and wife, Leigh, and Noel Boggess and wife, Linda, all of Peterstown; seven grandchildren, Scott Boggess and wife, Carrie, Mark Boggess, Maggie and Samuel Boggess, Rhiannon, Elliot and Luke Boggess; and one greatgrandson, Wilson Keith Boggess. Mr. Boggess was also grateful to his wonderful caregivers at Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, at the BroylesShrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va. with the Barry Harper and the Rev. John Offenberger officiating. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memorial Park, Princeton, W.Va., where members of John Dove Lodge #78 AF & AM will be conducting Masonic graveside rites.
