Roscoe Martin Obituary

Roscoe T. Martin, Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy, retired, 69, of Salem, Va., and Yadkinville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center in WinstonSalem, N.C. Roscoe served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1991. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Thomas Martin and his mother, Mary Lena Athan Martin. Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Vivian M. Howell, of Roanoke; and his niece, Mitzi Ayers and husband, Steve, and their children, Brandon and Tyler Journell, and Ellisa and Kayla Ayers, all of Salem. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Elizabeth Mortlock officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers, please consider the American Cancer Society, 2940 Electric Road, Suite 106-A, Roanoke, Va. 24018. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.

Vivian,
I am so sorry to hear about Roscoe. I was talking recently how Roscoe use to take Joyce, Kenneth and I to school! Now I'm the only one left.
