Nellie Divers Obituary

Nellie Mae Divers, 87, formerly of Bassett, Va., and currently of Stanleytown Healthcare, died Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Stanleytown Healthcare. She was born February 11, 1922, in Patrick County to Fred Lee Roberson and Beatrice Sheppard Roberson, both deceased. She was a member of Chatham Heights Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Divers; and a brother, Bernard Roberson. She is survived by her husband, Jake E. Divers Jr., of the home; three daughters, Barbara Slate, of Collinsville, Nancy Turner and her husband, Ken Turner, of Bassett, and Linda Johnson, of Collinsville; two sons, Robert Divers and his wife, Alice Divers, of Collinsville, and Jay Divers III and his wife, Carolyn Divers, of Roanoke; one sister, Irene R. Turner, of Collinsville; nine grandchildren, Jayson Divers, Lindsay Divers, Robin Miles, Tommy Miles, Heather Divers, Charles Divers, Wendy Gerhardt, Robbie Divers, and Scott Divers; and six greatgrandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Collins-McKeeStone Funeral Home, Bassett and other times at the home, 249 Kimberly Drive, Bassett. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Collins-McKeeStone Funeral Home, Bassett with Pastor Robbie Divers and Elder Thomas Radford officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, Ill. 60601-7633. Arrangements are by Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett. Online condolences may be sent to www.collinsmckeestone.com.
