Meda Angeline (Angie) Farmer, 69, of Forest, Va., passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Leon Paulette of Appomattox. Born in Hot Springs on April 1, 1939, Angie grew up in Radford, Va., and was the daughter of the late Ray and Nina King Farmer. She was former owner of Paulette Construction Company in Kentucky. Angie loved reading, playing cards, and especially playing poker with her close friends. She is survived by a son, Luther R. (Luke) Okes Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Lynchburg; a sister, Jacqueline Marzano and her husband, Jim, of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Mack Farmer and his wife, Tracie, of Radford; an aunt, Irene King Robinson, of Radford; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Okes and his wife, Tiffany, of Lynchburg, and Mari Okes along with her fiance, Ron Fulwider, of Moneta. Angie also leaves a special life-long friend, Sarah Herman and her family of Lynchburg; and her most recent cherished pet dog, Max. The family wishes to thank the staff at Lynchburg General Hospital's Oncology Department for the kindness and care provided during her recent and courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2009, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow. Family and friends are invited to continue the celebration of Angie's life following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Road, Suite 108, Lynchburg, Va. 24501.
