Johnie L. White

Johnie L. White, 95, of Clinton, S.C., formerly of Dublin, Va., passed away Friday, February 27, 2009. He was born August 9, 1913 in Max Meadows, Va., son of the late James Burton and Larmie Belle Thomas White. He was a member of the Draper Valley Baptist Church and was retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Ann Collins White, a great-granddaughter, Virginia Haddon and several sisters and brothers. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and George Farris, of Clinton, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Duane and Ramona White, of Greer, S.C.; six grandchildren and spouses, Steven and Elizabeth White, David and Rosemary White, Kelly and Jeff DeWitt, Alice and Joel Barnett, Laura and Lee Haddon and Rebekah Farris; eight great-grandchildren, Collins White, Emily, Duane and William White, Kayla and Matthew DeWitt, Trey and Edith Haddon; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Walter Clinton and Daisy White, of Max Meadows, Va., Beatrice White, of Speedwell, Va.; brother-in-law, Virgil Manuel of Graham, N.C.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Draper Valley Baptist Church, with the Reverend Wilfred Overton officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery, Wytheville, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home or at the home of Walter and Daisy White at any time. Flowers will be appreciated, or memorial donations may be made to the Gideons or the Draper Valley Baptist Church. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.
