Andrew J. Thomas Jr.

Andrew J. Thomas Jr., 79, of Floyd, Va., passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009. He was born on October 10, 1929, to the late Andrew J. Thomas Sr. and Pearl Hylton Thomas. He served in United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Andrew retired as a Plant Superintendent from Adams Construction Company. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ila Phillips Thomas; daughter, Rebecca Guyer and husband, Joseph; son, Michael Andrew Thomas and wife, Lydia; three granddaughters, Stephanie Hixon and husband, Rick, Bethany Guyer, and Jessica Marshall; five grandsons, Joseph, Micah, James Andrew and Benjamin Sanderson, Simon Andrew Thomas; four greatgrandchildren, McKenzie, Maranda, Malachi and Aubrie; sister, Abra Lee Trail and husband, Cluber; sister-in-law, Bertha Lee Hylton; brotherin-law, Alec Epperly; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home with Dr. Rudy Holland and the Rev. Lee Shelton officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd, Va.
