David Trout Obituary

David H. (Fish) Trout, 66, of Roanoke, Va., a loving husband, proud and devoted daddy, granddaddy, and a friend to many, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2009. He was at home surrounded by his family. Born August 25, 1942, Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late H. David Trout and Melva Bowman Trout of Roanoke. David is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Ginny Anderton Trout; two daughters, Melinda Trout Kantor and Terryee Lee Trout, both of Roanoke; and one son, David Jason Trout and wife Lenore of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Jordan and Madison Kantor, Noah, Abigail, and Jonah Trout of Roanoke; son-in-law, Gary Kantor of Hardy, Va.; sister, Tracy Huffman and husband Jim of Greensboro, Ga., and their son, Jim Huffman, of Covington, Ga.; brother, Edward Trout and wife, Debbie of Vinton, and their son, Zack Trout of Roanoke; other numerous nieces and nephews; "adopted" daughters, Tanti Rowland of Fredericksburg, Va. and Lindsay Stutsman of Pinehurst, N.C.; special friends, Phil and Patrick Randolph of Roanoke.
David attended William Fleming High School and graduated from Hargrave Military Academy. He also attended Ferrum College and the University of Virginia Cooperative Extension. He was a builder by trade. David was a lifelong member of Central Church of the Brethren.
Favorite pastimes included spending time with family, vacationing at the beach, fishing, woodworking, and tending to his vegetable garden. David was always willing to extend a helping hand. His master carpenter skills allowed him to build many custom homes, including the one his family lived in on Windy Gap Mountain for over 20 years. He was skilled not only in carpentry, but in all aspects of construction. David was a kind, hardworking man. He taught his children to be devoted hard workers. He was a gentle giant. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

I went to William Fleming with Fish and he was such a very nice and pleasant person. Even though we all went separate ways and other cities, it is nice to recall those that we were friends with.

May God comfort you at this time.
