Mary Marie Cooper

Mary Marie Cooper, of Roanoke and Franklin County, went home to be with the Lord. She dedicated her life to the service of others. Always a hard worker, she worked at Kenrose, Bailey's Cafeteria, People's Drug Store, The Veteran's Canteen, Davis Pizza, K&W Cafeteria, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Sunnybrooke Inn. She was a faithful servant, helpful, devoted, beloved, and had a heart of gold. She loved to cook, bake, and garden. She also loved to be with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Cooper; and six children. Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Amy Cooper and Lindsey McKooper; granddaughter, Jennifer McFaden and husband, Patrick; brother, Ellis Bolling; and a host of relatives, including in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extended family of friends. A period of visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home's chapel. The Rev. Irvin W. Sloan and the Rev. Robert Paxton will officiate.
